You may take BP or heart medications with a SIP of water that morning. e. Be at the hospital 1 ½ – 2 hours before your scheduled time of surgery- this allows time for IV start and pre-operative medications to be given before surgery. Antibiotics have to be in you body an hour before surgery start to best help prevent infection.

Be patient and relax at the hospital.  A surgery scheduled before your surgery  in your  assigned operating room  may have an unexpected  complication and your surgery may not start at you assigned time.

REMEMBER -  IF  it were you that was having the complications you would want us to take our time to take the best care of you.

If you get too nervous, inform the nursing staff.  They are very good about getting you some IV medicine to help you relax.

If at all possible I will come talk to you and your family before the surgery and answer questions.  I am sometimes called into a scrub partners room for help and will not be available, but I will try my best to get to talk to you before you go to sleep!
